Turmeric settled flat as prices pared most of its gains amid anticipation of good rains at the producing belts. As per market sources, production year 2015-16 started with carry-forward stocks of 1.4 lakh tonnes compared to 2.1 lakh tonnes in 2014-15. The consecutive back-to-back droughts in India have impacted turmeric production in 2014-15 and 2015-16. India produced 2.52 lakh tonnes of turmeric in 2015-16, lower by 15 per cent than the previous year. Production declined on account of lower acreage in Tamil Nadu and comparatively low yield in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

Gold on Wednesday held near two-month lows hit in the previous session, with the dollar firm after upbeat US data and as investors waited for nonfarm payroll numbers later this week for clues on the timing of a Federal Reserve rate hike.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Spot gold was little changed at USD 1,310.48 per ounce at 0104 GMT. The metal fell 1 percent to hit USD 1,308.65 on Tuesday, its lowest since June 28.
* US gold futures slipped 0.2 percent to USD 1,313.90.
* Fed Chair Janet Yellen said on Friday the case for higher rates was strengthening, though she gave little clarity on the timing of a move. In an interview on Tuesday, Vice Chair Stanley Fischer said the US job market is nearly at full strength and that the pace of rate increases by the Fed will depend on how well the economy is doing.
* Gold is highly-sensitive to rising US interest rates, which increase the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding bullion while boosting the dollar, in which it is priced.
* Holdings of SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, fell 0.12 % to 955.40 tonnes on Tuesday.

"Tea workers around the world are facing dangerous and degrading working conditions," said the report by India-based Glocal Research and The India Committee of the Netherlands, non-governmental organisations working on labour and human rights.
Tea plantations in India - the world's second largest producer of tea after China - employ an estimated 3.5 million workers, the report said.

The huge global oil oversupply that has weighed on prices for the past two years may not clear until the second half of 2017, Shell's chief energy adviser Wim Thomas told Reuters.
The potential return to the market of some 1.5 million barrels per day of supply from Libya and Nigeria and uncertainty about Iranian and Iraqi production levels could push a rebalancing further away than many in the oil industry are hoping.
"All these things when they come back on the market can again postpone the true balancing," Thomas said in an interview on the sidelines of the ONS oil conference in Stavanger, Norway.
Oil prices fell more than 70 % from 2014 highs earlier this year and are still more than 50% below those levels as a fierce battle for market share between major producers has flooded the world with oil.
Oil demand from energy hungry nations China and India will be a key driver for oil prices, as well as the resilience of U.S. shale producers to weak prices.
